Pranayama in Amritsar

Pranayama is yoga breathing. Simple guided techniques help you slow down and steady your mind. You can practise sitting on a chair, and no flexibility is needed.

What is pranayama?

Pranayama is the yoga practice of working with your breath. You sit comfortably, on a mat or a chair, and Divya guides you through different ways of breathing: slow counts, alternate nostril breathing, humming breath and more.

No flexibility is needed. The skill you build is noticing your breath and slowing it down when you need to.

A one-minute breathing practice

Equal breathing, or sama vritti, is one of the simplest pranayama techniques: you breathe in and out for the same count. Many people find it calming within a few rounds.

  1. Sit comfortably with your back tall and your shoulders soft.
  2. Press Start and breathe in gently through your nose as the circle grows.
  3. Breathe out slowly through your nose as the circle shrinks.
  4. Follow six rounds, about a minute, then notice how you feel.

If you feel dizzy or short of breath, stop and breathe normally. If you are pregnant or have a heart or lung condition, keep every breath soft and never strain.
